So here's a little about me. I'm currently 39 years old and I weigh 330 pounds. I'm 5 foot 7 inches tall. I have two boys who are 19 and 18 years old now. I'm happily married my knight in shining armor! I have a step-daughter and three grandkids! I work a full time job, which is basically a desk job!
I am relatively healthy, except for the fact that I am morbidly obese. That alone has its few issues. I have arthritis in my knees, low back and hips. I have acid reflux too. I have battled my weight ever since high school. (Although looking back I wasn't really that overweight!!) I have tried many diets, plans, and workouts.
After working at my current job for 6 months and taking the stairs to the 2nd floor EVERY single day, I was still short of breath going up. I should NOT be out of breath after doing this 5 days a week for 6 months!!! So I went to my doctor. She said they only suggest 2 types of medicines. One pill and one injection. She suggested that I research each and figure out what I want to do. Well with my current insurance those two options were quite a bit out of price range for me. The pill was like $200 a month and the injection was $4,000 a month. I began looking at other options. Weight watchers, Nutrisystem and Jenny Craig. I researched each one and decided to try Weight Watchers because I don't have to buy and special foods to stay on plan.
Over the course of 16 weeks, I lost 16 pounds! But money was my issue. So I stopped my membership. My husband got into a really serious motor vehicle accident and life continued to give us fun stuff! My weight increased yet again. So in February of 2017 I decided enough was enough. I'm tired of not being happy and I'm tired of feeling so yucky in my own skin. No more. So I have joined Weight Watchers for the 2nd time. I'm still battling my weight. I am still gaining and losing the same 5 pounds over and over for the last three months!
I have had a health scare that really put things into perspective for me! I've made decisions that will, hopefully, help me to finally get this weight off of me. Because of my weight, I've decided to go back to the water. I had participated in water cardio classes at the YMCA about 6 years ago. I fell in love with it! So I'm going back to what was fun for me.
I've decided to take my bonus from work to pay for a family membership to an aquatic center. This way it doesn't bother our current budget, or create a new bill for us. This will allow me to be able to go free swim in the mornings and take the cardio classes at night. The rest of my family can use the pools or go to the gym or take a class or play in the gymnasium.
My plan is to attempt to lose this weight the natural way, by eating properly and exercising. I'm going to work hard for the next 6 months! If I can't lose between 37 and 74 pounds by the end of the year, then I will look at my last resort option.... surgery.
Yeah I know everyone in this big wide world battles weight. Everyone has their own story. My story is a family journey. My story will not be just another story. My story has purpose! Care to follow me as I transform my life and my family's life?
